The Absence of Ego

Did you know that there is an entire universe where peace and love exists, where life is limitless and fulfilling, where dreams really do come true. Did you know that all you have to do is learn how to let go of your ego and self image? If you want to have it all, you have to let go of your need for approval and replace the ego with being, just being, which is anything but boring by the way. I only know this because I’ve spent the past few years working with healers, learning how to let go, learning who I’m not, learning how to let go of fear. Learning how to let go of ego and pride and all of the things that were conditioned from a very young age.

The problem is that societal standard is very outdated and we now know how powerful our minds are, and with that knowledge we’re able to undo what we were taught, the things that no longer serve our best self. People, places, things, attachment to things, attachment to the wrong people, attachment to drama and gossip and insecurity.

It’s not easy to change, especially where relationships are concerned and this is precisely why so many fail. EGO. Lack of awareness, selfishness, conditions, manipulation, control, blame, doubts, putting your unrelated fears onto one another, the list goes on. We all want healthy, happy, over the moon in love relationships but if we don’t learn how to let go of that image of who we think we are, we’ll never know our true self, and that’s where real love exists. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about who I am, at the core, not who I’ve defined myself to be, but my soul, which has been very challenging to understand and also incredibly fascinating.

I know it sounds cheesy but it comes down to self love, and getting there can be an inner battle between the ego and who we really are. Self love changes everything, it allows you to love others without conditions, to think about your partner and how they feel, to stop seeking validation, to stop complaining about the things that don’t matter. I’ve made all the mistakes and being someone who has always had to have an exciting career so other people would accept me I never really understood love, for myself. My past relationships didn’t work because I couldn’t truly love someone when I didn’t love or understand myself. I’m in a wonderful relationship now and all the inner changes and work have allowed us to have a much more fulfilling, loving relationship.

If you break down the word relationship, it could be defined as how we relate to one another. If we want a different outcome we have to change the path we choose to take and learn to shed the things that no longer serve us. When you start a new relationship you don’t have to pretend you have it all figured out. If you take the time to do the work, and learn to live in your truth and not your ego, all of your relationships will change, most importantly your romantic relationship.

If you want some suggestions of books that can help I would recommend Deepak Chopra’s books:

‘The Ultimate Happiness Prescription’ and ‘The Path to Love’

EGO is responsible for protecting our self-image; it creates compartments where everything you think is undesirable about you has been hidden. What blocks love is not the presence of these shadow energies but the division of the psyche that came about when your ego started building inner walls. Love is a flow, and walls keep the flow out. – Deepak Chopra.
